Lankayan Island is an uninhabited island located deep into the Sulu Seas off the coast of Malaysia. The island along with its two neighboring sisters have been declared a marine conservation area. Many rare species are regularly observed here such as: ghost fish, frogfish, mandarinfish, blue ringed octopus, mimic octopus, giant jawfish and dwarf cuttlefish. There are also larger fish spotted on the reef, lots of spotted rays, yellowtail and chevron barracudas, huge shoals of scads and giant parrotfish. In April one might observe ore of more individual whale sharks at a time. If your'e even luckier you might swim with a thresher shark or see orcas. All chalets are well appointed with private bath room and hot water. After diving at Lankayan Resort, you will spend one night at the Sepilok Palm Resort and visit the Sepilok Orang Utan Centre located at the edge of the Kabili Sepilok Forest Reserve in Sandakan. Visitors can come in close contact with the Orang Utang and witness an exciting conservation program in action.
