Over 400 species of reef building corals and 900 species of fish have been recorded at Kimbe Bay. Unique to this area are a series of seamounts covered with coral towers and surrounded by deep water. Some of the reefs in Kimbe Bay are near the surface while others peak at 60 feet below the surface.

Located at Kimbe Bay just a 45 minute drive from the airport at Hoskins, Walindi's accommodations are in individual bungalows set in lush gardens facing the sea. This resort is known world wide as one of the best land based dive resorts in the world. Walindi has access to over 190 reefs close to the coast on the Bismarck Sea. Daily service on Air Niugini to Hoskins Airport from Port Moresby. Additional baggage allowance is offered by Air Niugini for divers who enter Papua New Guinea on a Air Niugini international flight. The airline also offers passengers who are traveling on Air Niugini on international travel a Air Niugini pass which gives free travel to another destination and 75.00 more for each segment. Great Destinations recommends Air New Zealand and Continental Airlines for passengers traveling via Australia and Singapore Airlines for those passengers traveling via Asia. These tickets may be obtained at discounted prices.

Oxygen is carried on the dive boats. The closest chamber is in Port Moresby.

Best diving season: Mid April to Mid June and mid September to mid December.

Water temperatures run from high 70's to mid 80's. Dive specials are offered in off season. Group rates are available upon request.

We highly recommend that you take preventative malaria medication. Please contact your physican or city health department. Malaria is a concern in PNG. There is a chamber in Port Moresby and we feel that DAN insurance is mandatory. There is E6 processing at the resort.
