Water temperature ranges from the low to mid 80's. Oxygen is contained at the dive shop at the resorts. (Malagan Beach, Lissenung Island and Nusa Island Retreat) Southeast trade winds from May through November are light. From February through April, seas are calm, but can be affected by rain squalls. New Ireland Island is bordered by the west by the Bismarck Sea and by the west the Pacific Ocean. The harbor of Kavieng is quite beautiful, so for divers staying in the outer islands, a visit to Kavieng is a must. Ask about "the shark calling." |
