The Solomon Islands are a nation of over 900 Islands in the South Pacific and are located just south of the equator, enjoying a tropical climate year round. The capital of the country is Honiara , well known for the fierce battles fought on the island of Guadacanal. The waters off Honiara were named Iron Bottom Sound in response to the many ships that were sunk during the war. These islands are famous for colorful reefs and fascinating wrecks left from World War II. |
